Pro-Life News June 09 ; A FISH GOES BAD FROM THE HEAD
On Saturday, June 20, the subsequent monthly Crusade for Life of the Unborn Child was held. It began with holy mass at the St. John Vianney Church in Queens,on the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In his homily, Fr. Ph. Reilly, told us that towards the end of 60’s in the last century, as the New York legislature, being one of the first in the USA, legalized abortion, not far from Northern Blvd. & Main Street, an abortion clinic opened but very shortly after went bankrupt due to a lack of clients
It seems,the community was still healthy in soul and mind. Actually,the situation presents itself in various ways. The saying “The fish goes bad from the head” or “The example comes from above” confirm the bitter truth. Today,overall about 70% accept abortion as a means of birth control, their position is one of indifference. This was also confirmed during the last elections when, a horror occurred, 60% of Catholics voted for the current president of the USA. On all sides consumptionism and neopaganism reign, and abortion clinics are prospering. “The culture of death” has spread all over the world.In this particular day,we left the church in the pilgrimage,reciting the rosary prayers and singing hymns,walking toward the local abortion clinic.We were bringing the light of Christ to this place of darkness as also to the bystanders.The last,stopped surprised and asked each other what was going on.Some just blessed themselves, a few people even joined us! They changed from what they were a few moments before… “seeds” were planted. . .! After arriving in place,we accompanied Jesus in agony,in these little sisters and brothers who were not allowed to enter this God’s beautiful world;together with:Mary,His Mother St. John, Mary Magdalene...! One of the scoundrels was converted ! And among the most active members of Pro-Life are those who once shed the blood of the innocent. ..! Let’s not lose hope, so that we don’t stop in our tracks!!!
